These are accurate descriptors of the interior of this home when we got there. The finishes had run their course, served their purpose and were ready to be rejuvenated, reawakened or replaced. This is a familiar story, in which the design and finishes of a home are no longer applicable to the family that lives there, or the finishes are just “done”. In this main-floor renovation, we made major changes to the floor plan to create a dream-kitchen, dining room and family room. We pushed the kitchen into the existing dining room, thereby repurposing the front of the home to accommodate a large dining table. By changing all of the interior finishes from the fireplace to the dining room, this is a totally different home. The objective was to create a space where one-person is comfortable baking cookies, or the space can seat 18 for dinner. The choices and selections made were fundamentally set in ensuring the look and feel will never tire.
