This one is personal. When we decided to move our company across the country- we knew it would be difficult. We felt the best way to start over in a new city was to take on a project of our own. This would allow us the opportunity to research the trades, select ones we felt fit our company values and try them out on our own home, vs a client’s. We also wanted a portfolio piece that we could show potential clients so they can see the quality design and craftsmanship we provide. We purchased a 100 year old brick craftsman (because we like a challenge). We fully gutted the existing home, opening up the kitchen and dining area. We also added a mud room to connect the home to the garage and added 900 sq ft on the south side of the home which includes a home office, a primary suite, laundry closet, and another bedroom. We also added basement space. We plan to remodel the basement in another phase a few years down the road.

We’re a husband-and-wife design-build team with a shared passion for creating beautiful, lasting homes. Our journey began in San Diego in 2011, and two years ago, we moved back to Iowa to be closer to Emily’s family and to raise our children in a community we truly love.
